This club will no longer have activities. Lack of participation from everybody including myself make it seem to me like it would be a better idea to just stop. It's not very convenient for me to have to run the contests and then draw prizes for them, either.

However, SHF will still be accepting members and member works; it'll be a dA gallery of sighthound art. So yes, if you do have any sighthound art to submit, feel free to send a note or a link!

As for Project Houndlove, if you're still up for doing that let me know. If not, I'll just make a club ID on my own and leave SHF as a gallery and sighthound artist listing.

WELCOME TO SIGHTHOUND FANS

WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
Sighthounds are some of the oldest breeds of dogs known to history. They hunt by sight, and not scent, unlike most dogs, and so are usually tall and lean, and can run fast to catch their prey. They hail from all sorts of places, from the scorching Arab desert to the snowy Steppes of Russia, and have been used to pursue and subdue all sorts of quarry ranging from small prey to large predators.

At the present day, sighthounds enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle, although they still retain their ancestors' age-old instinct of chasing anything that moves quickly. Games and sports such as lure coursing are favourites and allow the dogs to exercise their hunting instincts without hurting anyone or anything....well, for the most part.

Sighthound breeds include the Greyhound, the Whippet, the Italian Greyhound, the Borzoi, the Sloughi, the Saluki, the Afghan Hound, the Magyar Agar (Hungarian Greyhound), the Irish Wolfhound, the Scottish Deerhound, the Ibizan Hound, the Pharaoh Hound, the Sicilian Hound, the Galgo Espanol (Spanish Greyhound), the Azawakh, possibly greyhound crossbreeds (known as Lurchers) and even the Rhodesian Ridgeback. (Please notify me if I've forgotten anyone).

At any rate, there is something about these special dogs, perhaps their beauty and air of nobility, that make people feel strongly about them. If you are a fellow sighthound fan, then please, feel free to join us! Oh, and if you have sighthound-loving friends you might want to tell them about us.

To join, please leave a deviantcomment on our page, or send a Note to the club account (I recommend the latter as more reliable). Don't just watch the club and expect to be added as a member, you've got to let us know that you're joining

In your Note or comment, please also remember to add your favourite sighthound breed. We segregate our members according to favourite breed to break up the monotony of an icon mosaic. (if you love too many, just pick one, don't worry.. it's unspoken fact that we all love them all! :3)
